What is Ayurveda?

Āyurveda is the oldest continuously practiced healthcare system in the world, originating in India 5,000 years ago and translating to, "the science of life." Ayur = science, veda = life.

Āyurveda works with understanding how the rhythms and laws of nature correlate with us as human beings. If we consistently ignore these laws, imbalances will appear within the body and mind, potentially leading to

dis-ease.

Through an Āyurvedic approach, each individual is treated just as that - an individual; consisting of different physical, psychological and emotional constitutions. These constitutions are described deeper in terms of the five elements and the doshas.

The goal of Āyurveda is to teach people how to obtain optimal health through providing a deeper understanding of themselves. It is a system based on natural healing and strengthening of the body, mind and spirit.
